Chow Chow Puppy Fact sheet

As you can see , Chows can look quite a bit like a lion when grown.

A litter often comprises five healthy pups. The pups are generally quite reserved and although they are loyal towards their immediate owners, they are quite suspicious to strangers. The pups have also been known to be fiercely independent and they have a tendency to be quite stubborn.

An important fact about Chows, is that this dog does not always like to be hugged as they value their independence. If you have small children in our house, you may want to tell then not to hug the Chow puppy way too often as a constant show of affection may irritate the pup. At times, it may even cause aggression from the Chow puppy.

Chow Chow puppies should always be introduced to children at the youngest possible age, so it will tolerate them as it grows older.

An unusual fact about Chow Chows is that they are often uninsurable, due to their aggression.

The coat of a Chow pup is dense and requires constant brushing and the pup also needs to be protected against parasite infection. Fleas, ticks and worms have been known to affect the Chow puppy and hence, regular health check ups are required to keep the pup free from unnecessary infections.
