Chow Chow Puppies

Chow Chow General Info

The Chow Chow is an ancient breed of dog that originated in China more than 2000 years ago. They were bread as an all purpose breed used for hunting, animal herding, farming, and as guard dogs. They are often referred to as chow as opposed to chow chow and are now used primarily for companionship. Chow puppies will require a very extensive and ongoing training regiment in both social skills and obedience.

House breaking your chow is relatively easy; however they will only perform any tasks that make sense to them. They will need to be taught from the time they are puppies, who the master is or they will take over as an alpha. They will require a firm hand, fair treatment, and consistency in their care. They will not respond to harsh words or actions or a heavy-handed approach. They will become aggressive if they are treated in a disrespectful manner. The Chow is a highly talented watchdog or guard dog.
The Chow Chow can be lazy and will prefer to stay indoors remain relatively inactive. A small fenced in yard is best for them, but they cannot remain outside for very long in hot weather. The Chow is great for apartment living if they are given enough exercise. If you are looking for Chow puppies that are for sale from reputable Chow Chow breeders or if you plan on adopting a Chow from a Chow Chow rescue shelter then make sure you understand as much about the breed as you can.
